Yes — for a full or premium refresh, the bathroom is out of commission while we work because tile, paint, and fixtures need uninterrupted dry time. For a quick refresh (no tile work), we can sometimes phase the work so the toilet and shower are usable for most of the project. We discuss this during your consultation. If you only have one bathroom, planning matters — we'll book your demo day to give you the longest weekend window before you lose access.
Cosmetic updates — replacing a vanity, re-tiling, swapping fixtures with the existing plumbing rough-in — do not require a permit. Anything that relocates plumbing, alters electrical, or changes walls does. The vast majority of BRIO refreshes are permit-free because we deliberately design refreshes to work within your existing rough-ins. If your project does need a permit, we handle the application, drawings, and inspections.
